Securing Planet Api Key from client in wmts requests arcgis sdk js

Confused about image resolution

Greetings all,By my own admission, I am very new at the satellite imagery usage and processing, so I am confused about the image quality (resolution) that I am seeing in the images downloaded.I am downloading a series of images that have a GSD of 3.7m, so this should allow me to resolve an object of about 9m.When I open the images in ArcGIS Pro, the images are really pixelated, and I cannot even clearly see the outline of houses.Here are some item IDs that I have downloaded today 20230921_151412_22_242d, 20230820_155500_02_247d, 20230705_150612_29_2420, 20230530_151402_74_24cc, 20230403_150804_41_2431, 20230723_150707_37_2460And here is a sample of the images I see on my screen, viewed at a resolution of 1:3,672. Heck, I get better resolution from Google Maps imagery (but not the 8 band spectra) like the Planet images have. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Nicfi streaming issues on QGIS planet pluggin

I have an old thread for this issue which i already marked solved - but getting back in again .. the issue is up again .. i continued there on that threat-  but posting a new thread here just in case. Me again!i thought my problem was solved but it seem to have recurred. In the previous streamed months, i get the error - No API Key Available. New streaming connections work. i seem to have the latest version 2.3.3Any ideas much appreciated. Reconnecting is a little bit of a pain.Thanks for any help.

Nicfi streaming issues on QGIS

I am using the planet explorer/nicfi plugin with QGIS to monitor forest loss in our project area. It is really useful. However I'm having issues with the streaming of imagery. I connect the monthly mosaics/streaming and it shows up in the layers. I can just click these on and off based on which month I want to view. Lately, these have not been refreshing (and not coming up at all) and i have to add the month in again as another layer (and delete the previous - not working layer) to get that month’s pictures up again.Not sure why this is happening now. My other staff working on this has no issue with the same set up!  I have a poor internet connection so am sometimes offline. I remember initially that it may have worked offline even with previous images still staying put. So the issue seems recent. Now even when i'm online with an OK connection, i can't bring up the previous layers and need to add new layers every time. It's a hassle.Thanks!!  Much appreciate any solutions.

Cloud Masking and Image Download for PlanetScope Imagery in Google Earth Engine

'm relatively new to the Planet API, having engaged with it for just over a week. Following the GEE-Integration guide, I've successfully exported data to Google Earth Engine. Now, I'm working on cloud masking for a cloud-free composite using the asset type "ortho_analytic_4b_sr" and the scene "PSScene". I have around 122 images in the collection. I've come across "udm2" for cloud masking but I'm uncertain about its implementation. Also, once the requirements are met, could you guide me on downloading it? I'm unclear on parameters such as scale and maxPixel; my attempt to download a single image seemed off from the expected result.Appreciate your assistance.

Creating data from satellite images

Hello.I have recently acquired an education and research standards account.I use this wonderful satellite imagery to study conflicts and wars around the world.The best example of this is the data file of Russian military trenches in Ukraine.This data is used in many OSINT maps.I previously created this file based on Sentinel-2 imagery using QGIS and thought the 3 meter resolution would improve the accuracy of the data.I am trying to download satellite imagery from Basemap and use QGIS to create new data. Is there any possibility of violating the terms and conditions?I have used translations and read the terms and conditions that might apply, but I do not see any such thing.I have included the actual data and images of the work made using sentinel satellite imagery.I would appreciate it if you could answer my question.

Unable to import Planets Multispectral PlanetScope Imagery into Google Earth Engine

I am doing multispectral geospatial analysis using pair of Planets (RGB, NIR) imagery band, for Sept 11 and October 18, 2016 with Google Earth Engine (GEE). My Planet Explorer search through my Planets account showed the pair of images are available as PlanetScope scene. However, the GEE snippet for importing Planets imagery seemed to be an experimental "Skyboard for Good Beta" program from 2015, found here: Planet SkySat Public Ortho Imagery, Multispectral  |  Earth Engine Data Catalog  |  Google for DevelopersWhen I run the code snippet in GEE, I get an error image that reads "Layer 1: Layer error: Expression does not evaluate to an image". Is there a GEE code for the type of images I need (PlanetScope 4 or 8 band imagery)? Is there some way to directly import Planets images into my GEE project folder?

What's the easiest way to download data over a long temporal range?

I'm new to PlanetScope and to mapping. My question is which is the easiest and most time efficient way to download my site data from Planet? I find using the Planet Explorer clear and easy to use, and it lets me clip the image data to just my sites, which is very good as it prevents me from going over my quota. However, I want to download the data for my sites across their whole temporal range (2016 to present day). As far as I can tell, the explorer won't let me do this easily as I have to manually click each scene and press the "load more" button.I've also tried using the official Planet plugin for QGIS. It is cool that it loads Planet data directly into QGIS, but I don't see any option to crop scenes down to just the pixels I want. I also don't see the option to bulk select scenes within a date range. Lastly, I've attempted to use the APIs that Planet provides, but this is challenging because I'm only familiar with the R programming language, so I keep encountering errors. Furthermo

Dust Detection with Planet Images

Hello everyone, I am studying dust storm effects in the oceans. I want to use satellite imagery to improve the results of my project. However, I am having issues with dust visualization in ArcGIS.I did a table with the following features:In the first column, you can see Planet explorer. On the left, you can see a clear day, while on the right, you can see a dusty day.On the second column, they are the same images after being downloaded and then uploaded in ArcGIS Pro. On the left, the uploaded image is similar to the one shown in Planet Explorer. However, on the right, the image is not dusty, it does not look like the top-right image. On the third column, I decided to use a Stretch (ESRI) on the image in ArcGIS Pro. Again, on the left, you see similar colors to the one visualized in Planet Explorer. On the image to the right, only the South West area looks different (perhaps dusty?) than the rest of the image. However, overall, the image still does not resemble the image visualized in

Query Regarding Vegetation indices

Hi!I have been trying to compute some vegetation indices suing 8band PS data. The generated NDVI his in its range of -1 to +1 but I am not able to get the suitable range for other indices like EVI, EVI2 etc. These indices are coming up in ranges of -4000 to +5000 with most of the data concentrated between 0 and 2. Could you please tell why is it happening?I am using Qgis for the computation of these indices.

Mosaic operation - 3 images to mosaic

Hi Planet’ers ! I have a quick question concerning mosaics in ArcGIS Pro that I’m trying to build with planet data. So, I have 3 beautiful separated planet images Here is how they look all togetherNow I want to mosaic them But the mosaic gives me something like this, not a harmonized image… and the colors are very distorted...I followed the Planet ArcGIS guide https://university.planet.com/planet-integrations-arcgis-pro-workflow/1244865 and used Max it didnt work, then I used Blend, then Last, same with every single Operation , nothing worked….Hope someone can help me ! Missing metadata and problems with the tool Apparent Reflectance

Hello,I'm a college student and not very proficient in using ArcGis Pro and Planet Imagery.I would need advice on the Apparent Reflectance tool. I'm working with images from the PlanetScope satellite and I don't know where the problem is, but I don't see the metadata of the images. It's rejecting my data format. So I opened the metadata in a normal browser. To create I need Radiance Gain and Radinace Bias for each band. I'm not sure, but isn't it Radiometric Scale Factor and Reflectance Coefficient in the source current? Next I need the Sun Elevation, so I assume that is the same as the Illumination Elevation Angle? And I also know the Scale Factor and Offset, because it results from the number of bits in the image.So I tried to use these values to create. But it told me that the Acquisition Date is missing, probably because I don't have the metadata uploaded there. So now I don't know what to do with it, because I have nowhere to write the Acquisition Date.I will be grateful for any a

Searching Images over a large multi-polygon over multiple years

Messed up colors when importing Planet imagery into GEE- what mins and maxs do I use?

Hi,I thought I had posted this question yesterday, but it seems my post didn’t go through because I can’t find it anywhere. I’m having trouble with properly importing Planet imagery into GEE- the colors of my area of interest are skewed. Per this page: https://developers.planet.com/docs/integrations/gee/gee/ and my boss’s instruction, I tried both recommended sets of mins and maxs:For min 405.79 and max 4499.71 I got the following image, with hues of dark green and red: For min 190.00 and max 5322.00, I got the following image, with pale greens and browns:I’m aiming for more natural, Earth tone colors, like the example image below, which I was able to achieve the last time I imported Planet data into GEE, using min 190.00 and max 5322.00:Anyone know why my colors aren’t turning out this time? And why I have to keep switching the mins and maxs? Is there a trick to this? I’m a research assistant so I’m not totally familiar with the intricacies and lingo of these programs yet. Thanks for

How to clip mulipolygon?

Instead of clipping one by one, I want to clip multiple AOI together if they have the same scene. For example, I have scene id X and 10 AOI's that lies within this scene?  "tools": [ { "clip": { "aoi": { "type": "Polygon", "coordinates": [ object_coors ] } } }]Should I change the type to Multipolygon and give coordinates or should something different be written? The second question is, can I give the list of scene ids and all coordinates that intersect with these scenes? Will this work? For sure, i will not exceed 500 vertices limit

Planet data in DataCubes

Hi Community,I feel there is a need to make the step from analyzing just a couple of eo images to analyzing hundreds or more images for many applications. Even local solutions involve many images. Building data cubes seems to be a good solution, I would like to hear what your experience is with (local) data cube environments or frameworks and Planet data! Some exciting solutions are around, such as rasdaman, opendatacube, and gdalcubes. Google earth engine seems to be working, but I don’t think I get the code to deploy GEE on our infrastructure. However, so far, I haven’t found reading procedure for planet data, whereas the usual (and boring 😜) Sentinel and Landsat data seem to be supported out of the box.It would be very interesting to get inspiration.Cheers 🤙,Christoph

PlanetScope 4 Band Images - "File Not Georeferenced", "gray", RGB confusion

See above image. I’m having an issue where in some versions of QGIS my downloaded PlanetScope imagery looks like the right image where the bands seem to be shortened/ not rendering properly at all and the error of “this file is not georeferenced”. Is there a known source for this problem? 2. At times, select geotiffs state the properties of the geotiff state that there are no labelled bands, just that one band out of the 4 is “Gray”. Is there a resource that explains the meaning/source of this and how this may impact my data? (see above image)From question 1, the image on the left. I am told that the the correct order of the bands is BGR but The RGB bands are inconsistently labelled with Band 1: blue (Red) - what is the reasoning behind this and what is the true intended color of the band? (see above image)
