Encountering limitations with the current co-registration tool in the Orders & Subscriptions API. The current method, relying on a single user-defined anchor item, might decrease the overall positional accuracy for image stacks containing multiple images instead of increasing it.We propose implementing a new functionality that utilises an average temporal image as the anchor for co-registration. This approach would improve the average positional accuracy of the entire image stack, leading to more precise data for AgTech applications.
Leverage the high-performance time series cloud detection algorithm used in ARPS & Fusion products within the Planet APIs for PlanetScope data analysis. This approach significantly outperforms the current UDM 2.1 cloud detection and would be very beneficial for many of our customers who depend on very high quality cloud masks.
I am passing on a feature request I received from a couple of our customers (mainly Ag). It would be great if customers could subscribe only to those images that fully cover their AOI. With this feature storage costs on the customer’s end would decrease without reducing the amount of usable data. It would also lower the complexity of their processing pipelines. For Planet, this would help reduce processing costs because significantly fewer scenes would have to be activated and processed.
We have a request from a customer to enable organisation wide sharing of their PIP/SH configurations. This functionality would allow them to efficiently distribute their Planet data (sr basemaps in their case) to all org members at once, eliminating the need for manual configuration sharing, which becomes cumbersome for large organisations.For security purposes, it's crucial to restrict sharing to users within the organisation only.This feature would improve efficiency and data security for government users leveraging our platform for geospatial workflows.
We currently maintain a shared quota for all users (students, faculty, researchers-- excluding labs with separate funding for their own Planet licenses) and have to try to equitably divide the quota for everyone on campus. Some of our students want to rely on Planet data for their thesis, some researchers hope to download millions of square km with regularity for their research. To try to ensure that a handful of users don’t consume our entire annual quota quickly, we’ve worked with Planet to designate each unique campus user as their own sub-org. Our Planet rep is stellar and has been very helpful in this process, but it does mean that users must reach out to us every time they need a quota increase, and we then need to contact the Planet rep to execute the quota increase. It can be tedious, and it would be very helpful to integrate single sign-on for campus users so we can easily control their download quota and adjust accordingly.
Hi there!The naming convention for sub orgs in the account page only shows the PL # which makes it cumbersome for the customer (partner) to pinpoint usage per end user.It would be extremely helpful for Partners to be able to see the name of the SubOrg as well as the PL # when in the accounts page. Thank you!
Hi, It will be great if we can keep the names of Skysat assets coherent between the Planet Explorer and the product specification. Please see in the attached image the assets and their different names .. This would avoid miscommunications and make it easier to navigate when looking for asset information. Thanks !
Hi team Planet,I would like you to check if you can allow users to choose the aspect ratio for plant stories, for example take 1:1 or 9:16 or 4:5 images, thinking about sharing your content on other platforms where these proportions are the most used.Regards,
One of our strategic customers has requested for version control to be implemented on our products to more accurately track imagery improvements in metadata based on date downloaded When doing analyses, version control would help with determining if new improvements/changes would impact results
Hi team,Problem: When ingesting individual Basemap quads into a BYOC Collection, I am facing the issue that the COG is not tiled: Unsupported:File 'quad' problem: The image of TIFF directory 0 is not tiled, which means that you don't have a proper COG. Enable merging of quads for basemap orders > 25 quads.2. Deliver basemap quads as tiled COGs. By default or by allowing the File format tool.
For Planet Product team’s consideration:Planet’s Capture Review Terms of Service guidance mentions a customer can check the cloud coverage assessment over their area of interest by the usable data mask (UDM). When a SkySat visual asset (optimised for visual analysis) is ordered in Planet Explorer, I notice there isn’t a UDM2 file delivered alongside this asset and I wondered if it would be helpful to include it?Thank you!
Hi, during an onsite workshop last week, we encountered internet issues especially during the demos and practical hands-on part. We found that the region has limited internet connection, and thus accessing most of planet products online was quite impossible for the trainers and the participants. I am being informed by a colleague that there might be technologies that can be implemented to improve access for low band-with users. Just wanted to check with you if this possible or something we can implement moving forward? Also, provide this kind of feedback to the product team.
Some of our customers require methods to effectively rank PlanetScope scenes based on image quality for downstream processing. Current public metadata lacks metrics like sharpness and signal-to-noise ratio, hindering informed selection.Would it be possible to expand publicly available scene metadata to include relevant internal data points? This would empower users to make data-driven decisions and optimise their workflows.
List Planet as a new AWS EventBridge “Partner event source”.Events, such as Subscriptions notifications, can be published to an EventBridge Event Bus and easily consumed by customers applications.https://aws.amazon.com/eventbridge/integrations/This is an alternative to webhooks.
It would be very helpful if we could show a kml or kmz file as a background layer in Explorer, not to clip for an AOI, but just to view for reference. For example, show a logging block vector boundary so you can see harvesting progress in the block, the road leading up to it, and confirm there are no excursions outside the boundary.
Sometimes customers prefer to receive imagery on a regular schedule, such as once a month or twice a month, according to their criteria. Once the image is delivered, they do not want to receive any additional images within the specified period
On the “My Orders” page (https://www.planet.com/account/#/orders), it would be great to have the following functionality:Be able to download all results as a csv file Be able to sort and filter using the column names (e.g., filter for all “Completed” statuses or sort by “Created [Date]” Be able to search by order name (or other attributes like id) Be able to map/download footprints of all prior orders
The API should allow for cost previews before orders are placed. This feature is especially important when monitoring multiple AOIs and placing orders that require clipping.
Currently the view for imagery in Planet Explorer is locked to North-Up, which can make analysing images that have some obliquity in other directions difficult - the imagery can appear upside down or laying to the side. If the imagery could be rotated (with a compass icon so you know the orientation of the image at any time), it would make analysing images far more natural.
When creating Planet Stories have the option to add various map labels (e.g. GPS coordinates, location name, scales, time period/date options, etc.) to display on the story. (This would be similar to how you can choose label options for snapshots downloaded from Explorer.)
Suggestion #1For the screenshot overlay, add the option to change the location of the “Planet” logo from the bottom left to another position on the image. Sometimes the logo can cut off part of the underlying material and it may be better to move it to the top.
Each user on Explorer can create ‘Save Searches’, but those ‘Save Searches’ cannot be shared or transferred over to another user’s profile. Each user’s ‘Save Searches’ on their accounts are private.In the past there have been instances where a primary user of Explorer, who has all the relevant ‘Save Searches’ on their profile for their department, leaves the company and the rest of the team is left with having to just remember which areas need to be saved again. It would be great to have the ability to share or transfer certain user Save Searches to others within the same organization.
I’ve noticed there some great tagging for the Planet data products, but one that eludes me and other researchers looking to perform photogrammetry is a tag for archived stereo SkySat images. If that was easier to query, we could do more testing of the capabilities for forest structure and agriculture. Anyone else need something like this?
