KML files as background layers

It would be very helpful if we could show a kml or kmz file as a background layer in Explorer, not to clip for an AOI, but just to view for reference.  For example, show a logging block vector boundary so you can see harvesting progress in the block, the road leading up to it, and confirm there are no excursions outside the boundary.

A couple ideas your comment sparked from my end. If you haven’t tried EO Browser yet, there is functionality to upload an AOI, or draw a custom AOI there. 

 

Aside from that, streaming Planet imagery into a GIS application (like ArcGIS or QGIS) either through the integrations, or via a WMS/WMTS streaming layer, is also possible, where you can upload more robust AOIs.
