Hello, and thank you for allowing me into your community. I need help. On 2021 I fell the sidewalk was half shoveled of snow and ice is there any way I can prove this using satellite imagery? I sustained a traumatic brain injury from the fall and left me with lifelong symptoms. One other thing I am not sure of where to post my message.

Dear All,I want to find contrail images taken from above with the aim of measuring their width versus distance from the plane, over a distance of several kilometers. Hi, I’m a new user in Planet and I’d like to measure the number of people gathering for certain events in Mexico. What would be the best way of doing this?I know the date, time and location of events, which sometimes overlap with the timing when the satellite images are taken. I don’t know too much of remote sensing, but my idea was to measure the spatial distribution of image tone intensities, comparing images of a same location with and without the gathering.I’d appreciate if I could get any feedback on how to implement this! One of my questions is what is the appropriate meters per pixel that image that I should use? What is the minimum size of a gathering that I could detect?Example: I know that in this park (24.022724971695283, -104.67158198775181) there was a political gathering on June 21, 2018 around the time the image was taken. Hopefully, if there were enough people attending, I would be able to observe this, right?Thanks for any directions or s

Can someone help me to identify the water, which is in some place is covered by trees`?

This question is not about visualization so it may not be related to https://community.planet.com/topic/show?tid=159&fid=3 even there are some similarities. My issue is that I am feeding a Keras model where I need to basically use a 0.0 to 1.0 color space. Now for regular RGB images I would simply do a rescaling with /255. For Sentinel2 I’d do /10000 but what is the correct factor for Planet```PSSceneAsset types    ortho_analytic_4b_sr    ortho_analytic_4b_xml    ortho_udm2```I do not want an individual range per scene but a “standard” rescaling factor. If there are outliers (as with Sentinel2 NIR channel) this would be Ok.thank you very much for your support.

Hi,I am finding difficulties in overlaying osmdata over Planet data. Though we reproject them in the same CRS, they don’t seem to overlay perfectly. Has anyone faced the same issue or would anyone please help us in this regard? Thanks.

I am new to the platform and can’t find any reference to night-time imagery as I’d like to do a classification of illuminated areas. I can understand not having that imagery stored regularly as it is less applicable to most people. However, could this be tasked, can I find examples of this? Any guidance would be appreciated!

I’d like to know what reasons exist for limiting Planet Data to scientists, researchers, and government and private ventures. I think, like EOBrowser, which Planet Labs just acquired, Planet’s near daily imagery should be offered in a free, quick to access manner to users of the general public like Sentinel data. 

Many development projects require offsets to compensate for habitat and vegetation destroyed in the process of “development”. These offsets require monitoring periodically (annually) to meet their environmental compliance requirements. Periodic use of Planet imagery with suitable analysis (for the asset of interest) would seem an obvious application. I am interested in setting up such a system on a commercial basis but wonredif anyohaths already or if there were any research papers on this topic

Hi all,In my last Saturday post I said I couldn’t understand why in a day my quota moved from 12% to 70% when effectively I have downloaded only 1 image. I have discovered later in the evening the reason.Because I was learning and understanding how to build a request block, in the last modification I have forgot to insert the “tools” block sand this mean I have downloaded 2 full strips of images.At the same time I have discovered that once the request is processed, the images can be downloaded already from the web page ( another thing I learned).I have 2 questions to ask:is the bundle information always required when creating an order? when I have multiple images in the same days and added to create a composed one, the km2 are calculated for single images or the composite one? This will help me to figure it out how many images i can use per vegetative cycle per year - I have to cover 5 yearsThanks and apologies i

Hi Planet Users!I wanted to start a conversation around co-registration and learn about the ways you are doing it. What techniques are you using and what software or platforms are you using to implement it? Planet’s API’s do have a co-registration tool-chain that can be used on a API order - see documentation here, however, we know that there are other workflows that might work best for you. Looking forward to hearing how you co-register Planet imagery!

Hello. Not sure where to report this, I am unable to access the webpage Planet Monitoring - Satellite Imagery and Monitoring | Planet. It is just blank. I tried in multiple browsers and get the same result, blank page. 

What software/packages do people use to access/use/process/visualize Planet data?I have done most of my processing either in QGIS, or in python, where I have found rioxarray to be a very useful python package for just about all of the above, but I am still learning all the packages out there that could be useful.What other python packages do you use and why? I am also interested in knowing if people use R (and if so, which libraries are most helpful). Does anybody use Google Earth Engine? Any tips?I recently learned about the RSAGA library, but don’t know anything about it...does this work with planet data?(I also saw this post on datacubes, but am really interested in seeing what peopl

In Canada in the prairie provinces land is surveyed using the Dominion Land Survey and this survey is used by government, agriculture, environmental entities and , Mining and NGOs to locate land by quarter section.  Therefore for Saskatchewan - It would be handy to have this as a searchable base layer to locate land parcels.  It is available for around $200 Can from Saskatchewan Information Service Corp https://www.isc.ca/MapsandPhotos/GISData/Pages/SaskGridTownshipFabricMap.aspx
