Hi, I’m a new user in Planet and I’d like to measure the number of people gathering for certain events in Mexico. What would be the best way of doing this?I know the date, time and location of events, which sometimes overlap with the timing when the satellite images are taken. I don’t know too much of remote sensing, but my idea was to measure the spatial distribution of image tone intensities, comparing images of a same location with and without the gathering.I’d appreciate if I could get any feedback on how to implement this! One of my questions is what is the appropriate meters per pixel that image that I should use? What is the minimum size of a gathering that I could detect?Example: I know that in this park (24.022724971695283, -104.67158198775181) there was a political gathering on June 21, 2018 around the time the image was taken. Hopefully, if there were enough people attending, I would be able to observe this, right? Thanks for any directions or suggestions!
Hello I am new to satellite imagery and I can’t get it how to task for high resolution imagery for a specific location so I can than further edit images in Arc GIS Pro and get isocurves of terrain. I also bought a subscription to Sentinel hub.
I am a total novice trying to use sattelite data for our monitoring (and stopping hopefully) land encroachment in the forest we’re working in. I’ve been learning bit by bit QGIS - have been using the planet plugin for the monthly mosaics (with some issues i’ve mentioned in another post). We used to use the sentinelhub eobrowser until (i thought) it was discontinued last year and they told us to now use copernicus EO browser. Now back here at planet i see sentinelhub is back up! and i’m curious what the difference is between sentinelhub and copernicus. Also looking to add in these into my QGIS project -but wondering what the difference is .. they work similarly.. but are they indeed the same, is one better? or are both good? how different? All using only the free account options.A simple explanation as to how all these services are related would me much appreciated! Thanks so much.
I am using the planet explorer/nicfi plugin with QGIS to monitor forest loss in our project area. It is really useful. However I'm having issues with the streaming of imagery. I connect the monthly mosaics/streaming and it shows up in the layers. I can just click these on and off based on which month I want to view. Lately, these have not been refreshing (and not coming up at all) and i have to add the month in again as another layer (and delete the previous - not working layer) to get that month’s pictures up again. Not sure why this is happening now. My other staff working on this has no issue with the same set up! I have a poor internet connection so am sometimes offline. I remember initially that it may have worked offline even with previous images still staying put. So the issue seems recent. Now even when i'm online with an OK connection, i can't bring up the previous layers and need to add new layers every time. It's a hassle. Thanks!! Much appreciate any solutions.
Hi, Hope you are doing well. I have downloaded nearly 50 tiles of the wet tropical rainforest of Australia, and a few tiles have severe cloud cover even after applying the filter function of Planet Explorer. So, how can I remove those clouds? Unfortunately, there are no reference images available without Cloud for those locations in near times (2019). I am using QGIS. Any suggestions in this matter are highly appreciated. Kind regards,Shawkat
Can someone help me to identify the water, which is in some place is covered by trees`?
I followed your instruction and create a subscription, however I receive this message:Request failed with {"error":{"reason":"Policy issue","details":["No valid line items found for organization_id '467158' and resource_id 'FIELD_BOUNDARIES_v1.0.0_S2_P1M'."]}}NoneMay I ask what could be the problem
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows any good indices to use in urban landscape for picking out buildingactivity and not vegetation?
I would like to know how to balance the mosaic images. I would like to do a classification but it seems like some images have the red value as twice of the other images, even those from the same day. Is there a color balancing I can do?
Hi,I am finding difficulties in overlaying osmdata over Planet data. Though we reproject them in the same CRS, they don’t seem to overlay perfectly. Has anyone faced the same issue or would anyone please help us in this regard? Thanks.
We are loading PlanetScope and SkySat tiles into an application using Google Maps API V3. It automatically requests tiles via the Planet API based on zoom level and x and y values.Since Planet scenes may not take up the entire bounding box of the map, we are sometimes calling the API for x and y values that may not produce a tile.Is there a way of checking ahead of time whether a tile is available at the x and y location so as to reduce the calls to the Planet API if there is no tile there? We call the API on the server so as to hide the API key, then return the resulting PNG file to the browser. Many thanks for your help,Dan
Dear All,I want to find contrail images taken from above with the aim of measuring their width versus distance from the plane, over a distance of several kilometers. I believe the information exists on satellite photos, but I am unable to find them on my own. Here's an example of the type of shot I'm looking for, but with much better resolution :https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Contrails_nasa2004October13.jpgCould someone please help me with some suggestions? Thanks in advance !Best,Serge
