[removed by moderator] went missing on 5 July 2026 while serving aboard the merchant vessel M/V AETOS (IMO 9527960) during its passage through the Mozambique Channel in the Indian Ocean.
Since his disappearance, search efforts have involved relevant maritime authorities and rescue coordination services, with support from Ukrainian diplomatic representatives and other organizations. Despite all efforts, there is still no confirmed information regarding his location.
I understand that Planet’s satellite imagery is a commercial service. However, considering the exceptional circumstances and humanitarian nature of this case, I kindly ask you to consider providing assistance that could support the ongoing search efforts.
We are particularly interested in archived satellite imagery of the highest possible quality and resolution covering the period:
5 July 2026 – 17 July 2026
for the following areas:
Aldabra Atoll (Seychelles);
Assumption Island (Seychelles);
Cosmoledo Atoll (Seychelles);
surrounding islands, reefs, lagoons, and coastlines of the northern Mozambique Channel, where ocean currents may have carried a person or any objects related to the incident.
Even a limited amount of high-quality satellite imagery could be extremely valuable. It could allow us to examine remote beaches, coastlines, reefs, and other inaccessible areas that cannot be physically searched by us.
We understand that satellite imagery cannot guarantee the discovery of a missing person. However, when every day matters, any additional information may become a crucial opportunity to continue the search.
If official documentation, confirmation from authorities, diplomatic representatives, or information regarding the ongoing search efforts is required, I would be ready to provide all necessary materials.
