The Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM) uses NICFI satellite data in the CONSERV initiative in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil.

This initiative is based on Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) to farmers who register in their program and conserve native forests on their properties. NICFI data is essential for monitoring native vegetation on members' farms so members can receive their payment for preserving the natural ecosystem.

IPAM also uses NICFI data to conduct complementary assessments of databases on deforestation, degradation, fire, and permits to remove native vegetation from farms. Additionally, they use the imagery to obtain temporal patterns of Vegetation Indexes to map specific land uses for single plots on different farms.
