Hi,

We are trying to search for and order SPOT data, but our queries return very few results compared to those shown in the airbus geostore. Possibly a similar problem as described here:
https://shforum.sinergise.com/t/pleiades-cloud-coverage-filtering-and-apparently-missing-products/2196

We go from having 20+ SPOT images for an AOI in 2020, to only one returned for the query results. This time I see no cloud cover explanation as to why some would not be in the living library…

Our aoi is:

(3.7523510938578246, 51.440960436302795, 3.7725417757314155, 51.46007448617943)

Perhaps you can see what is going on.

We will provide additional feedback as we continue testing!

P.S. it would be useful if there was a SPOT example here:

Hi @barrett,

I was quickly checking the SPOT data available in the Airbus Living Library for 2020 and the provided AOI. Indeed the Library only contains one dataset from 23 March 2020 for the given search query.

As the offer in the Living Library seems pretty limited, we are exploring to connect to the Archive as well.

We will keep you updated!

Cheers, Max

Thanks for checking. This seems to make a very big difference to the amount of available observations which limits its value! It would be very valuable if the full archive was available…

Indeed, this surprised us a bit as well.

The Living Library is composed of a selection of SPOT and Pléiades images:

  • SPOT6/7 : Airbus selection covering all over the world every year

  • Pléiades : cloud cover < 2% & acquisition angle <30°

For Pleiades the selection seems pretty good, but for SPOT quite a bit limited. So it certianly makes sense to look into that and we will do that.

Hi @barrett,

we extended the option for SPOT data going beyond Living Library.

Can you check if all of the data you were looking into are present? As there might be some more options…

Hello @gmilcinski,

we can indeed find all the data listed in geostore!

Unfortunately, we are currently trying to order some SPOT data and we keep having the same error:

HTTPError: 500 Server Error: Internal Server Error for url: https://services.sentinel-hub.com/dataimport/v1/orders

You can find an example of the queries we are using for searching and ordering data in the following.

Do you have any ideas, what is wrong here?

Hi @grimaldo,

I checked the endpoint you are supposed to use for Third Party Data Import (TPDI) API in the API reference and it should be the following:
https://services.sentinel-hub.com/api/v1/dataimport/orders.

This should solve the problem! If you still run into problems, please let us now.

Could you maybe point me towards where you found the endpoint you were using: https://services.sentinel-hub.com/dataimport/v1/orders? If this is written somewhere in our documentation I would like to correct it as soon as possible.

Best, Max

Hello @max.kampen,

thank you very much for the quick reply!

I changed the url, but I get the same error:

HTTPError: 500 Server Error: Internal Server Error for url: https://services.sentinel-hub.com/api/v1/dataimport/orders

Concerning

max.kampen:

Could you maybe point me towards where you found the endpoint you were using: https://services.sentinel-hub.com/dataimport/v1/orders ?

I cannot recall where I got it from. It is nowhere to be found, but in my code. Fun fact: I did some Pleiades orders and quite a lot of PlanetScope orders using the endpoint https://services.sentinel-hub.com/dataimport/v1/orders

To reproduce the error:

from oauthlib.oauth2 import BackendApplicationClient
from requests_oauthlib import OAuth2Session

client_id = 'xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx'
client_secret = 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'
client = BackendApplicationClient(client_id=client_id)
oauth = OAuth2Session(client=client)

# Get token for the session
token = oauth.fetch_token(token_url='https://services.sentinel-hub.com/oauth/token',
client_id=client_id, client_secret=client_secret)

# All requests using this session will have an access token automatically added
resp = oauth.get("https://services.sentinel-hub.com/oauth/tokeninfo")

@grimaldo probably got that end point from my code, which would have got it from one of the discussions I was involved with on this forum in the last few months or from pages linked in such discussions.

It seems I was using it in April from this post:

I’ve managed to successfully do a data search for Airbus/Pleiades data and get several results.
However, if I try to simply order based on that successful search query (https://docs.sentinel-hub.com/api/latest/#/DATA_IMPORT_API/examples?id=order-using-query-1), I get this response:
HTTPError: 400 Client Error: Bad Request for url: https://services.sentinel-hub.com/dataimport/v1/orders
The query which works for search but not ordering:
{‘provider’: ‘AIRBUS’,
‘bounds’: {‘geometry’: {‘type’: ‘…

Might the documentation linked there have been updated since then to the new endpoint?

Hi @barrett & @grimaldo,

I checked in with a colleague concerning the different endpoints. Indeed they changed a couple of months ago in order to harmonize the naming across all our services. However, the old endpoints are working and will still be supported for quite a while.

Regarding the order request script you provided, the field names in the data section are different for PlanetScope and Airbus data.

Instead of:

...
'data': [{'constellation': 'SPOT',
'itemIds': ['c35b5058-9b1e-469d-b36f-21da67ea486d']}],
...

it should state:

...
'data': [{'constellation': 'SPOT',
'products': [{'id':'c35b5058-9b1e-469d-b36f-21da67ea486d'}]}],
...

for ordering a single SPOT product through an id.

You can check all applicable parameters for the different data providers in our API Reference.

We are still looking into why the the original request failed and will update you with the findings.

Best, Max

Hello @max.kampen,

my bad, thank you very much for your hint! I could create and confirm the order!

Best,

Emanuele

Good morning @max.kampen,

yesterday I created a SPOT order, which is apparently still running.

‘created’: ‘2020-06-30T09:25:28.703Z’,

‘id’: ‘xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-86b2-3bc3a4f7bb04’

Could you please check if it is indeed still running and why?

Best,

Emanuele

Hi @grimaldo,

Thank you for the update. It seems there is nothing wrong with your order, but it failed at Airbus. At this point we do not know why it took so long to fail.

We suggest you re-submit the order and we will contact Airbus support in case it is failing again.

Best, Max

Update: order status is now “FAILED”

Hello @max.kampen,

thank you!

I have a related issue. The following is the list of the orders I can find for SPOT data.

xxx-ea1b23a03277, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 2.73

xxx-0c2e1cd98081, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 2.5

xxx-ccdf02719f3c, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 9.8

xxx-dcd2be429687, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 2.5

xxx-ff604159900f, order status: DONE, sqkm: 2.73

xxx-8e8bc10c998c, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 14.4

xxx-e16ef7df471a, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 5.31

xxx-f3c729838aa9, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 5.31

xxx-8b435309510e, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 5.2

xxx-f136b891b600, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 12.43

xxx-2e254ce0d6c0, order status: DONE, sqkm: 2.5

xxx-41e64ac56118, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 2.5

xxx-cbd74e8bfc5b, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 2.5

xxx-01ad387f2435, order status: DONE, sqkm: 2.68

xxx-cd50f80eec21, order status: CREATED, sqkm: 2.73

xxx-3bc3a4f7bb04, order status: FAILED, sqkm: 2.5

Requesting the quota, we find ‘quotaUsed’: 13.22.

Adding the orders with a DONE flag, the quota does not reach that value. By adding also one 5.31 sqkm order, the result coincides. In fact, I was quite sure I confirmed one of those 5.31 sqkm orders, but soon after that I could not find it anywhere. The total used quota would be consistent with having confirmed the order. Any idea where the problem (or the solution) might be?

Side note: @barrett noticed that the report of the delivery status for the failed order does not have a consistent size:

‘sqkm’: 0.15,

‘status’: ‘DELIVERY_FAILED’

Best,

Emanuele

A further question:

We have tried to order Pleiades and SPOT data for several AOI’s and for recent dates (last week). The data is shown on GeoStore, but it’s not listed when searching data with the SH API. Is there a delay before observations are available, and if so, how long?

Hi @grimaldo,

We are not 100% sure why that is. Could you provide us with some sample AOI and dates?

Best, Max

Hello @max.kampen,

I’ll provide an AOI and a time interval soon. Meanwhile, let me report on some problems concerning listing of orders: some orders sometimes do not show up in the list resulting from the get request

url = "https://services.sentinel-hub.com/api/v1/dataimport/orders"
response = oauth.get(url)
response.raise_for_status()
response.json()

I have a Pleiades and a SPOT example:

Pleiades. orderId: xxx-1e36d48b63e4

SPOT. orderId: xxx-561ead5784b8

Those orders were not listed while running, nor are listed now as ‘DONE’ (the data have been delivered 🙂 )

The status of the order could (and can) be obtained by specifying the order id

url = "https://services.sentinel-hub.com/api/v1/dataimport/orders/{}".format(orderId)
response = oauth.get(url)
response.raise_for_status()
response.json()

I’ll provide you an example of SPOT data search missing some observations in the next post.

Here I am again!

I paste here the query for the search. To clearly show the problem, we take an AOI of (roughly) the whole of Kenya. As you can see, the time interval ranges between 24/6/2020 and 30/6/2020.

Only nine observations are listed:

'2020-06-28T07:31:36.374Z'
'2020-06-24T07:12:33.749Z'
'2020-06-24T07:12:59.374Z'
'2020-06-24T07:13:14.874Z'
'2020-06-24T07:13:31.499Z'
'2020-06-24T07:13:47.374Z'
'2020-06-24T07:12:33.749Z'
'2020-06-24T07:13:14.874Z'
'2020-06-24T07:12:59.374Z'

while on GeoStore there are many others, e.g. many almost cloud-free scenes on the 28th of June (and on other days).

What prevents those data to appear in the search? Is there some filtering by cloud covering, inclination angle, others? We have seen that there seems to be an embargo of about one week, but that doesn’t explain those problems.

Best,

Emanuele

Hello @max.kampen,

max.kampen:

We suggest you re-submit the order and we will contact Airbus support in case it is failing again.

we did not repeat the exact same order, but we did an order for a somewhat different AOI. However, date and tile of the observation are the same as for the failed order (the product id is the same):

...
'data': [{'constellation': 'SPOT',
'products': [{'crsCode': 'urn:ogc:def:crs:EPSG::32631',
'id': '393f067e-1080-48fd-bf4a-d14846131fa6'}]}]
...

Similar to what has happened for the first failed order, for reference:

grimaldo:

‘id’: ‘xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-86b2-3bc3a4f7bb04’

the problem is apparently a failure in the delivery:

'created': '2020-07-02T13:22:06.842Z',
'failureReason': 'Failed to deliver 1 items. The failed deliveries with '
'failure causes can be obtained using this request '
'https://docs.sentinel-hub.com/api/latest/reference/#tag/dataimport_delivery. '
'Feel free to contact Sentinel Hub support for further '
'inquires.',
'id': 'xxx-01c37d69e339',

The result of the delivery status request:

{'data': '{'errorMessage': 'Delivery failed due to Airbus OneAtlas not processing the product.',
'id': 'xxx-1f96427573db',
'productId': '393f067e-1080-48fd-bf4a-d14846131fa6',
'provider': 'AIRBUS',
'sqkm': 4.19,
'status': 'DELIVERY_FAILED'}]}

Thank you very much for your constant support!

Best,

Emanuele

Hello @max.kampen,

the most recent searches are working fine, we find the datasets we are looking for.

Today I have ordered two SPOT images. One of the orders failed (id: ‘xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-f277d8ea5fef’). The order is not returned by get request

url = "https://services.sentinel-hub.com/api/v1/dataimport/orders"
response = oauth.get(url)

The problem appears to be once again a failed delivery. When checking the deliveries with the order id

url = "https://services.sentinel-hub.com/api/v1/dataimport/orders/{}/deliveries".format(id)
response = oauth.get(url)

we get

‘errorMessage’: ‘Delivery failed due to Airbus OneAtlas not processing the product.’

and

‘status’: ‘DELIVERY_FAILED’

A sidenote: the geometry for that order, even if relatively simple, is not just a box. May this cause problems?

Short update: I tried to order data for a similar area, but using a simple box as AOI. Unfortunately, also this attempt failed.
