The Planet Mission Operations team recently managed the final operations and re-entry of two of our decommissioned SkySats. As a part of our commitment to responsible space use, bringing these SkySats down from space ensured that they would not pose a risk to other spacecraft or further contribute to space debris.
As a reminder, this was a planned re-entry and does not have any notable impact on our high-resolution fleet’s capacity or your tasking abilities, given the Planet team’s continued efforts to innovate and improve the tasking capabilities across the program. We are able to apply learnings from the SkySat fleet as we look forward to launching additional high-resolution Pelican satellites.
