  2. There are so many places I would love to see, but top on my list at the moment are Argentina and Tokyo!
  3. I hope to help people find novel and impactful ways to use Planet’s data to address global issues, such as biodiversity loss and climate change.

  1. I live in Hamilton Ontario, Canada. Which is a beautiful place to be in the summer months!
  2. Top of my list for places to visit are Greece, and Australia!
  3. My favorite use for Planet images, and data is global disaster relief! How Planet continues to help agencies determine how, and where to best deploy people, supplies, and aid to those in need.
  4. I’m excited to see how this community helps customers, partners, and planeteers share ideas, get answers, and learn about all the great things that Planet does.

I like travelling to wherever I can go be it down the road or across the sea.

I am presently living in snowy Sweden!

Currently Nepal is at the top of my bucket list.

As a student studying Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation, I love the access Planet gives me to assessing these pertinent issues from afar and through time. But also, just to see some incredibly detailed imagery of some stunning locations this world is home to. 

I would love to connect with anyone conducting research using Planet’s products, I think there have been some super amazing outputs from people using this data!

  2. I’d love to visit Gabon again! It’s also one of the most cloudy tropical forested countries and difficult to get decent imagery of. 🙂
  3. I’ve been using Planet data since 2017ish, largely in the framework of the land cover monitoring research that I work on.
  4. I hope to interact with other researchers using Planet data, and to discover new tricks and interesting use cases for the applications of Planet data.

Hello from Central Maryland! 

Though I wish I could travel everywhere, presently my top destination is Israel, because of it’s rich biblical history and blossoming landscape. 


Currently I’m using Planet’s imagery to track construction projects local and global; from Nusantara, (Indonesia’s planned capital), to the new administrative capital of Egypt. Also of interest to me is the ever-shrinking Aral sea and drought observation of the Mississippi River.

Here on this shockingly new forum, I look forward to learning more about this service and it’s future as a satellite imaging provider. By far this is the coolest platform I’ve been able to use, and it’s ease of access is great. Someday, maybe soon, we’ll be able to access an even higher resolution at a much faster rate.

  3. Personal exploration of Dove’s RGB+NIR datasets, mostly for ecosystem analysis. Also, a frequency of 1-day vs 8-days might provide some interesting differentials.

    • GIS Specialist at The James Hutton Institute in Aberdeen, Scotland.
  2.  What is a place you wish to travel to?
    • Anywhere I haven’t been! Would love to visit Iceland someday. It looks amazing.
  3. How do you hope to use Planet’s products?
    • Part of my role is to support research across a number of domains centred around land use. To this end I hope to support other researchers in using Planet data to pursue research questions around topics including land use change, peatland restoration, and woodland expansion.
  4. What is something you hope to gain from this Community platform?
    • To touch base with other Planeteers.
    • To learn some tips and tricks around best practice.
    • To learn how to use the various ways Planet offers to work with their data (alongside resources in Planet University).
    • To ask a lot of very silly questions I should probably already know the answer to… 😁
    • To hopefully be able to help out others along the way.

Hey all Planeteers,

I am Ovidiu, I am currently in Pennsylvania, USA, and I am educator. Traveling is something I like to do as much as possible, but so far I have never made it to the Arctic Circle, or to the Equator, so they are top on my list.

My plan is to learn more about the Planet products so I can incorporate them in my classes, and the student research projects. From this community forum, I would like to learn more about the possible usage of Planet products.
