Deforestation in Tesso Nilo National Park, Indonesia

Mongabay was able to report on how Tesso Nilo National Park, home to Sumatran wildlife including endangered tigers and elephants, has been facing deforestation since 2010. The rate in 2021 almost tripled that of 2020, and Planet-NICFI basemaps present further deforestation in 2022. Together with the data from the University of Maryland, the trend toward deforestation in 2022 has been visualized on Global Forest Watch using satellite images from Planet.
