Dear Planet Community and Leadership,

My name is Hasan Al Shareef, an Independent UN Expert and President of AGDO.e.V (Arab/German Green Development Organization).

Over the past week, I’ve had the honor of actively contributing to the Planet Community and was recently ranked among the top contributors globally. These engagements reflect my deep commitment to leveraging Earth observation data for humanitarian and climate-related work, particularly in conflict-affected and environmentally stressed regions.

In this context, I would like to formally propose offering my role as an Independent Strategic Advisor for Planet in the Arab region.

This collaboration would focus on:

• Expanding Planet’s humanitarian and climate use cases across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

• Facilitating strategic connections with regional NGOs, government actors, and SDG aligned initiatives.

• Supporting the localization and Arabic translation of key tools and training content.

• Advising on feature development for Planet Explorer, Planet APIs, and educational platforms with a regional lens.

With real-world experience in displacement zones, drought hotspots, and policy networks, I believe I can help Planet strengthen its presence and impact where it’s most needed.

I remain open to discussing potential formats for this engagement and welcome feedback from the Planet team and wider community.
