Test Drive High Resolution Data from Archive

Good Day ​@elyhienrich!  Science program is not applicable to us. I think I have to describe our organization a little bit so please be patient. We are a nonprofit organization. I think when I say nonprofit Planet may be thinking of these billion dollar international NGOs like Care International USA, World Vision or Amnesty International. We are not them.

Mount Echo Conservation Association (URL: MECA) is staffed by volunteers, relies on small grants for funding and the forest area it manages is about 72-100kmsq. We have larger regional partners and philanthropic organizations who are willing to fund us (and organizations like us)  if we provide a proof of concept. 

I have a proposal. Can you give us free access during the current one-month free license to highres imagery so we can provide a proof of concept to our regional partners and other funders?

The market segment of community-based nonprofits and regional organizations requiring Planet’s services is under-served. So this would be a long run business opportunity for Planet. Kind regards.

It sounds like your organization might be a good fit for our Project Centinela biodiversity data grant program. Through this program we often work with small NGOs focused on hands-on conservation efforts. 

A few key points:
- Project Centinela is limited to areas of 15,000 sq. km, so we’d have to work with you to figure out the highest priority portions of the 100,000 sq. km area you mentioned
- Project Centinela is a 3-year data grant, so it would be a longer commitment/collaboration than the 1-month you suggested in your post.

​@Seamus Lombardo and ​@elyhienrich Thank you so much! The grant sounds perfect for us. Actually I'm sorry for using shorthand in terms of the area that our MECA conservation covers. To be clear the area of interest of our conservation authority and that of the regional authority is maximum 100 square kilometers. 

We do have a provincial partner. But even if you include the AOI of the provincial partner it's not going to exceed the maximum for the grant. So thank you very much to the both of you this is really good news and we will be filling out the grant application.
