Hello,
I am reaching out to you in connection with my ongoing master's thesis, which involves the analysis of satellite images. I am currently utilizing a standard Education and Research Account. As my thesis progresses, I anticipate the need for a larger volume of data, and I am concerned that the freely available download area may not be sufficient for my requirements.
Is there a possibility to extend the monthly download limit for my account. If such an extension is available, could you please provide details on whether it is a complimentary service for educational and research purposes, or if there is a cost associated with the additional data access?

Quota is reset on the beginning of each month. If you wish to get additional access to data- please reach out to sales here: Contact Sales. You can find more information about how our quota works at our Knowledge Base.

Hello Planet Team,

 

I am a doctoral candidate, currently enrolled in Planet's Education and Research Basic Program.

I am writing to request an urgent review and reset of my monthly download quota, which has been completely consumed due to an unintentional script error.

What happened:
I was developing a Python script using the Planet Orders API to download one best PlanetScope scene per month (analytic_sr_udm2 bundle, clipped to a ~50 km² AOI) for a time series covering 2016–2025, for use in my thesis research.


Due to a bug in the script — specifically, the script did not check for existing orders before placing new ones, the same scenes were ordered repeatedly across multiple script runs. This resulted in approximately 1,318 duplicate orders being placed unintentionally, consuming 131,800 km² of quota against my monthly allocation of 3,000 km².
