Is there a limit to number of orders, given that I use a E&R (Departmental or Campus Package)? I am in the process of requesting a large batch of orders through the API and expect the number of individual orders might exceed 10,000. Thank you!

To others who have the same or similar questions:

There is a limit to the number of orders you can have active at one time. There is a maximum limit of 10,000 concurrent active orders per organization, regardless of your package type (including Departmental or Campus Packages).

This limit applies to orders that are in the "running" or "queued" state. Once an order is complete, it will remain available for download for 90 days, and will not count toward this 10,000 limit.

If you need to place more than 10,000 orders, you'll need to wait for some of your existing orders to complete before submitting new ones. This is a system-wide limitation that applies to all accounts.

For large-scale orders, you might also want to consider using the Subscriptions API, which is designed for more efficient bulk management compared to the Orders API. The Orders API is optimized for smaller-scale orders, with a limit of 500 items per request. Orders API Overview mentions that "If you need to deliver a larger volume of scenes, we recommend using the Subscriptions API for more efficient bulk management."

Additionally, be aware that there are also limits on the number of scenes per order - for PlanetScope and SkySat, the limit is 100 scenes per order.
