Planet Community Guidelines

Planet Community is a place for all Planet users to troubleshoot problems, learn from other Planet users, share their knowledge, and source technical details that can accelerate their work. We at Planet believe that this mission is best served in an environment that is friendly, safe, and accepting, and free from intimidation or harassment. We aim to make participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socioeconomic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation. Please note, Planet Community is not part of Planet's Technical Support which can be reached at https://support.planet.com/.

These Community Guidelines explain what is and isn’t allowed in the Planet Community. Everyone participating in the Planet Community must follow these Guidelines. Posts that violate these Guidelines may be removed in Planet’s sole discretion, and users who commit serious violations may have their Planet Community accounts disabled, although they will still be able to access Planet’s products and services.  If you see content that violates these Community Guidelines, please report it to community@planet.com. Your participation in the Planet Community is subject to Planet’s Terms of Use and your organization's license with Planet.  

Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

• Using welcoming and inclusive language

• Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences

• Focusing on what is best for the community

• Showing empathy towards other community members

• Staying on topic in community posts

Respect Others

• Do not promote, organize, or participate in harassment or bullying. Repeatedly making critical, threatening, or otherwise negative remarks towards or about a user will not be permitted. Neither will unwelcome sexual attention or advances. 

• Do not promote or engage in hate speech. This includes any negative content about an individual or a group based on attributes such as race, ethnicity, caste, national origin, sex, gender identity, gender presentation, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age, serious illness, disabilities, or other protected classifications.

• Do not threaten to harm others. This includes threatening acts of violence, as well as threatening to expose private information. 

• Do not share any sexual content. Nudity, sexually explicit material, pornography, and any sexual content involving minors is not allowed in the Planet Forum. This includes anything, even cartoons, that depicts children in a sexual manner. We report illegal content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

• Do not post, promote, encourage, organize, or glorify any of the following: violence, gore, self-harm, suicide, terrorism, or torture. 

• Do not encourage or engage in human trafficking or prostitution. Any promotion of these activities is prohibited.  If you see any content of this nature, please report it and encourage victims to contact law enforcement.

• Do not depict or describe illegal drug use or manufacturing.  Depictions of illegal drug use and descriptions on how to manufacture or procure illegal drugs are prohibited, as is the purchase or sale of drugs of any type.

• Do not engage in illegal activity.  Any content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity is prohibited. 

• Respect others’ legal rights. Do not post content that violates a copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right held by someone else. We will remove such content if we discover it, or upon the request of the rights holder. If you believe your work has been infringed, please visit Planet’s Terms of Use for more information about Planet's Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.

Protecting User Privacy 

• Do not solicit or share others’ personal and/or private information. This includes information that is sensitive in nature on its own, such as a password, date of birth, or social security number, as well as information that is sensitive in combination with other data, such as precise geo-location, names or home address. 

• Do not share your own personal and/or private information. This includes information that would allow others to identify you offline, such as your full name and location. It also includes information such as passwords, payment information, date of birth, SSN, and more. 

• Keep your account information secure. Planet employees will never ask for your password or billing information. Use a strong password and change your password often. 

• Think before you click. While we do our best to keep spam and malware out of the Planet Community, you should still be mindful that links may be dangerous. 

Uphold the Integrity of the Planet Community

• Do not impersonate others. Pretending to be someone else, even for satire or parody, is prohibited. 

• Do not use the Planet Community to spread misinformation or disinformation.  Content designed to or that could mislead, defraud or otherwise harm other users is prohibited.

• No advertising. Do not use the Planet Community as a forum for advertising your business or soliciting clients, even if your business is legitimate. 

• No spamming. Do not use the Planet Community to share spam, spread malware, engage in phishing, or other similar activities. 

Planet Community Language Policy

Planet Community is a place where everyone can participate in open discussion, and we encourage posts in any language. However, please be aware that Planet’s community moderation team can only actively moderate threads in English. If you require immediate support in another language, we encourage you to reach out to support@planet.com.

Enforcement

Please report behavior that violates these community guidelines or that you find otherwise unacceptable to the Planet team at community@planet.com. Although these Community Guidelines do not create an obligation for Planet to act in any particular way, we will try our best to review all complaints will be reviewed, and if necessary, take action that is appropriate to the circumstances, which may include removing or editing a post and/or banning (temporarily or permanently) a user’s access to the Planet Community. Planet is under no obligation to disclose the identity of a reporter, or any details related to its review and decisions.
