Sinergise Acquisition and Useful Resources
Planet has acquired the business of Sinergise, including Sentinel Hub, marking a significant step forward in our mission to make Earth observation (EO) data more accessible and impactful. We are excited to welcome Sentinel Hub to the Planet Community, and are eager to accelerate investment in Europe, the development of EO data applications, and solutions for the planet.

Product Announcements
From September 14, 2023, archival PlanetScope images will only be available through the PSScene item type. PSOrthoTile archive images will no longer be available through the Planet API or Planet Explorer. This change allows Planet to improve your experience by streamlining access to PlanetScope data through a single source.

Planet University
Open Courses
Planet University rolled out an “Open Courses” space in Planet University! This space includes courses that can be taken with anyone, with or without a Planet account!
What you’ll find in Open Courses:
- An exercise in ArcGIS Pro focused on identifying blooming trees with PlanetScope imagery (including sample imagery that does not consume quota!)
- A new series of courses, designed by Dr. Ed Oughton of George Mason University, on using Planet Data in a Python environment.
Upcoming Training Sessions
Check out the hosted recording sessions and register for the one that you’re interested in! These sessions will consist of a pre-recorded demonstration of the selected tool (Planet Explorer, Planet Data in ArcGIS and QGIS) with a live host available to answer your questions.
