Expected Time for Downloading Batch

Hello Planet community!

I am looking to perform my first batch download and am wondering if it’s possible to get a ballpark estimate of how long this will take. I have a script prepared in Python using Planet’s API that will facilitate the retrieval and download of about 240 images from PSScene (3m resolution). To anyone with experience doing this, how long will this download process take? Should I run it before going to bed to give it enough time, or is it more recommended to try a parallel processing approach? Any tips are appreciated.

Using the download function of Planet’s sdk you can try parallel processing. However if you have a relatively good internet connection you should get through 250 images relatively fast. If you are not using any clipping and downloading full planetscope 8 band scenes then you might expect each file to be around 1Gb meaning you would have 240Gb to download. Divide that by whatever your internet speed is and you will get a rough estimate of you download time.
