Below are answers to questions from the live event and resources to get you started.
Question: Are data collections visible to all members of an organization’s subscription, or only to the individual user?
Answer: By default, data collections are only visible to the owner, but they can be shared with other users.
Question: Does the storage for collections expire? Does it incur some recurring cost while it is being used?
Answer: Data stored in a data collection does not expire. There is currently no cost for storage, but this is expected to change.
Question: Can I add my own data into Planet Insights Platform?
Answer: Currently, we support the ability to register your own cloud optimized GeoTIFF or Zarr data that is stored in AWS S3 buckets. You can learn more about these features from the Bring Your Own COG API and Zarr Import API.
Question: Are we able to share a collection as a GeoTIFF for further analysis within ArcGIS Pro, not just as a WMS?
Answer: You are able to download data from a collection if you need a GeoTIFF. WMS and WMTS are the only options available for streaming into ArcGIS.
Question: Can PlanetScope data be called through an API through Python?
Answer: Yes, you can access PlanetScope data through our API or Python SDKs. You can learn more from our developer resources.
Question: Does the complexity of an evalscript change its cost?
Answer: Currently, there is no additional cost for complex evalscripts. However, in the foreseeable future, we plan to implement a cost structure that will account for evalscript complexity. Please see our documentation for the latest details on this proposed change and more on processing units.
Question: Will processing units be built into the Education and Research programs?
Answer: Not currently, we are exploring this option.
