hello

I am reaching out to you as part of a project aimed at providing aircraft pilots with accurate maps to guide the fungicide treatment of banana plantation plots.

The goal is to obtain regularly updated base maps that clearly distinguish:

  • areas to be treated (presence of banana plants),

  • from those to be excluded (absence of target vegetation).

To meet these requirements, we are looking for high-resolution satellite imagery with a weekly update frequency.

PlanetScope appears to offer a suitable solution. Could you please confirm whether such imagery is available through your platform? If so, I would appreciate it if you could provide guidance on how to gain access (access conditions, technical specifications, pricing, etc.).

Thank you in advance for your response. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you need any further information.

Kind regards,

jean

Subject: Urgent Request: PlanetScope Imagery for Cyclone Ditwah Impact in Sri Lanka

Dear Planet Labs Support Team,

My name is Chithrika Jayamini Alawathugoda, MSc graduate from UAE University, specializing in LULC mapping and hydrological analysis.

The recent Cyclone Ditwah (28–29 November 2025) caused catastrophic flooding and landslides in the whole of Sri Lanka, including Kandy District, Alawathugoda and Ankumbura. Thousands were affected, and local authorities urgently need geospatial data to assess hazards and plan safe relocation.

I kindly request PlanetScope imagery for the area of Ankumbura / Alawathugoda with the following:

  • Pre-cyclone: 20–27 November 2025

  • Post-cyclone: 28–30 November 2025 (or first clear scenes)

  • Products: PlanetScope Analytic SR (4-band or 8-band)

  • AOI: [Attach GeoJSON or coordinates: 80.5530°E, 7.4190°N to 80.5830°E, 7.4470°N]

This imagery will be used solely for humanitarian research, including mapping landslide/flood impacts and supporting local relief and reconstruction efforts. I will gladly share resulting maps and reports with Planet Labs and acknowledge your support.

As an alumni of UAEU not currently enrolled in a PhD program, I cannot access paid imagery at this time. Your assistance would greatly help in timely disaster assessment.

Thank you very much for your consideration. Please let me know if additional information is needed.

Sincerely,
Chithrika Jayamini Alawathugoda
