Looking for Guidance on Accessing Satellite Imagery for PhD Research in Agriculture

Hello everyone,

I’m starting a PhD thesis on the use of satellite imagery in agriculture. Our goal is to gather satellite images from our area of interest and apply object-based image analysis techniques for weed mapping in maize and tomato crops.

I’ve applied twice for the Education and Research Program scholarship, but unfortunately haven’t been successful (the feedback I received was that I lack a formal university affiliation). My PhD is officially linked to a Spanish university (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, UIMP), but I don’t have a university email address. Instead, I do have an institutional email from the research center where I’m developing my thesis (Institute of Agricultural Sciences, ICA, Spain).

Given this situation, could anyone advise me on how I might access imagery for my study area, or perhaps share a contact who could point me in the right direction?

I’d be deeply grateful for any help or guidance from the community.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @fjavlopcarb - have you looked into the ESA Earthnet Programme? It might be an option to explore if you’re unable to acquire a university affiliated email address. More info here: https://www.planet.com/earthnet/
